Epic Silverton, CO Destination Wedding: Marta & Keegan

When Marta emailed me asking me to be the photographer on her wedding day, one of the first things i noticed was that she was contacting me all the way from Amsterdam. I thought to myself 'they must be Amercians living abroad'. It turned out that Marta and her family are from Poland and Keegan and his Family are from right here in Durango. These two met during college and now call Amsterdam their home. Before the wedding I was told by a Polish friend of mine that Polish weddings are kind of a big deal and all family is very hands-on. She was right! Everything was done and made with so much love. The kitchen of the Kendall Mountain Ski Area was full of laughter as the small group of family memebers prepared the evening meal. As I was packing my bags to say goodbye for the evening, Marta and Marta's aunt who came all the way from Poland, insisted that I stay for the food. Usually I try to get home after a long day's work before my tiredness keep me from getting over the mountain passes. But this time, I was pulled to stay and I am very thankful and gratful that I did. I had such an exquite time with these amazing families that really did travel from near and FAR.

I suppose I can't leave out that Marta's brother, who came all the way from Australia, drove the bride and goorm in his rental car to our mountain location and not one, but two tires popped. We heard the leaking after we parked and I looked to find his spare, then the other one went too. What's a mountain wedding without a little unexpected twist?
