Jeremie + Adam: Ewing Mesa Wedding, Durango

Sometimes, people come into your life and leave you better than you were before you met. Jeremie and Adam are two of those people. When Jeremie called me to ask me to be their photographer, we had never met before, but I knew right away that we had an instant connection. I remember on the day of the wedding, walking into their home where Jeremie was getting ready, and feeling instantly at home. Maybe it was the Bob Ross cardboard cutout (that followed us around all day), the amazing photography on the walls, or the people getting ready with such calm and laughter that it didn’t even feel like a wedding day. Whatever it was, I was grateful to be there. All night long the couples family and friends were so amazing towards me and it felt like I was part of the family. I can’t really tell you how much that means to us photographers, but it’s a lot. Kindness is not overrated.

They got hitched on Ewing Mesa, overlooking Durango and the La Plata mountains. I was nothing short of gorgeous. Since the mesa is private property, the last time I got to visit there was when me and my friends set off bottle rockets up there as teenagers. Don’t worry, my friends family owned the property. The mesa has since been purchased again and the city of Durango will be building a new rec center and bike trail system up there. I’m glad we got to see it before the development once more. But I think that weddings may be able to be held there in the future and I am eager to see what that will be like! It such a wonderful place filled with all that high desert splendor.

Enjoy.
