Durango Destination Wedding: Sara + Michael

This blog is not about a wildfire. It's about love.

I know I say this most-every time, but I am so blessed to have such amazing people come into my life through my photography.  I met Sara and Michael more than a year ago when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. Working with them leading up the wedding was a real treat. I knew during the engagement session and our facetime wedding planning meetings that we were going to make some serious magic at their wedding.

My expectations were far exceeded. See, a few days before the scheduled nuptials the biggest wildfire we had seen in 17 years, ignited in our town. The fire tore through the valley and mountains that were directly in the path of Sara and Michael's wedding venue.  Thankfully, no lives or homes had or have been lost due to that fire. But Sara and Michael still had to make a decision and knew they had to find another location for their wedding. What impressed me the most was this couple's ability to remain calm, happy and excited during that whole process. They quickly made the necessary changes, with help from some amazing family, friends and vendors, and pulled off the most amazing wedding ever.

You see, it was never about the venue, the view, the decorations. I mean, those things are a pretty special part of any wedding, but the most important part of any wedding is sharing the love for one another with your family and friends. And that is what they did. 100%. You know your love will last forever when nothing else could matter but the fact that you said: "I do".

"All you need is love. Love is all you need."

Enjoy,
